Founder & CEO

Decasonic

Paul Hsu is the Founder and CEO of Decasonic, an early stage venture and digital assets firm investing in the Web3 and AI supercycle. He is the firm’s sole general partner. Decasonic is built as enhancement capital. The firm is product first, thesis driven, and designed to partner closely with founders building durable companies through periods of technological and market change. Paul’s perspective has been shaped by building and investing through successive platform shifts, with a long standing focus on consumer internet and network driven businesses. His career spans the early Internet, social and mobile gaming, blockchain, and artificial intelligence. As both an operator and an investor, Paul has developed a practical understanding of how products reach scale, how consumer behavior shapes networks, and how long term value is created. This informs Decasonic’s approach of working alongside founders to sharpen product market fit, make better early decisions, and build systems that compound over time. Before founding Decasonic, Paul was an early stage venture investor on Sand Hill Road and later a senior executive at Zynga. At Zynga, his work focused on virtual consumer economies, digital assets, and product led growth. These experiences, well before blockchain and AI became mainstream, shaped his views on digital ownership, incentives, and the dynamics of large scale consumer platforms. Since 2013, he has been actively investing in blockchain and Web3 across multiple market cycles. At Decasonic, Paul leads a product centered, AI Native investment process grounded in operating principles rather than short term narratives. AI is embedded into how the firm evaluates products, assesses teams, and develops conviction. He believes artificial intelligence is a compounding force that is reshaping how products are built, how organizations operate, and how competitive advantage is sustained. The firm is structured to generate durable returns by investing early, maintaining concentrated ownership, and supporting founders with consistency through volatility. Paul is a frequent speaker, writer, and media commentator on Web3, AI, and emerging technology markets. His perspectives have appeared in outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, Forbes, TechCrunch, CoinDesk, and Yahoo Finance. He serves on advisory boards and boards of directors, including World Business Chicago, where he supports inclusive economic growth through innovation. Paul has lived and worked across Silicon Valley, Tokyo, Chicago, and New York, and partners with founders globally as they build through inflection points. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude. Paul believes enduring venture returns come from long term conviction, sound decision making, and sustained optimism. He is focused on backing founders who are building the next generation of consumer driven platforms at the intersection of Web3 and artificial intelligence.
